May 2023 Newsletter

Hello DYS Parents,

The Spring 2023 season has a few weeks left and DYS fields have been busy with players having lots of fun and learning more about SOCCER.  Even though the season is past our midway point, we are already planning for the Fall Season.  Make sure to sign up for DYS FB page and check the website www.dedhamsoccer.com often.  Fall registrations are opening at different intervals based on the program, so please read below info. carefully and don’t hesitate to reach out with additional questions.

Updates for DYS:

  • Memorial Day Tournaments- DYS contributes up to $300 per team to play in a tourney.  Connect with your coach…
  • Check out the DYS website/FB  in the next few weeks with Summer Soccer Camps in the area… Did you know that one of the best camps in the area with elite coaching staff is hosted right here in Dedham?
  • DYS Scholarships- DYS gives out several scholarships to HS Seniors ranging from $500 to $1000 to deserving students that have contributed to DYS over the years.  Winners will be announced around graduations and DYS will post to FB and web
  • TRAVEL TEAMS- End of Season Pizza Parties for Grades 3 thru 12.  Coaches will be given gift cards in the next 2 weeks to Bellagio’s Pizza (across from Gonzalez Field) for pizzas and drinks compliments of DYS.  The goal is to have fun celebrating the season as a team at the end of the season.  Please share pics on DYS FB page!
  • Gonzalez Field Snack Stand is NOW OPEN on SATURDAYS during game times.  Each home team is asked to have at least one volunteer parent during your game time, please work with the coaches to see who can help.  DYS is only selling water, gatorades, snacks, so this should be very easy to help us out!
  • DYS Night at the REVS was a great success with over 600+ Dedham players/parents in attendance
  • TOWN Program- End of Season Picnic is set for Sunday, June 11th (This is the highlight of the season-see below for more details)
  • Goalie clinics have started on Fridays at Gonzalez Field- Ask your coach/check FB for more details
  • Rustcraft Field has been progressing nicely and we hope to be back on the field in the fall

Clinician Sessions-  Grades 2 thru 5-  We have gotten a lot of positive feedback about our clinicians so far about the new format and sessions, Coach Adam Lambert and team are doing a fantastic job! Please share your feedback.

Dedham Youth Soccer TryoutsJust finished up with great coordination and success.  Thank you to all the players that attended!

  • Tryouts were held for FALL Incoming grade 3 thru 8 players for TRAVEL soccer
  • The tryouts were 100% facilitated by Professional Coaches from Challenger Sports
  • The purpose of tryouts are to get an independent evaluation of the players at different levels of play 7v7, 9v9, 11v11.  The Tryouts evaluate the player’s soccer skills and team play.  The format will be a blend of skills (passing, dribbling, striking) and mini-games. These evaluations will be combined with the Coach’s evaluation of the players to determine the best, most suitable competition level for each child.
  • DYS wants the player to develop in the most suitable environment to create a positive experience while learning to enjoy the game of soccer
  • Players will be evaluated ongoing throughout the season by their coaching staff as well as at the Clinic sessions (where applicable).  Soccer skills, teamwork, enthusiasm, and commitment are all part of the evaluation process. Additional evaluations may be used in determining appropriate level of play if needed
  • The number of teams and the size of teams are based on number of registered players and league rules. Teams may be combined at grade level when conditions require.
  • If a player did not attend the tryout and played in the spring season we will use the coaches evaluation for determining next seasons placement. If you are new to the DYS program or did not play in the spring and did NOT attend the tryout, please contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns
