May 2025 Newsletter

Hello Dedham Soccer Community! Hope the 4 th was with you! This weekend was not only Referee Appreciation Weekend across BAYS and Town, but it was spring, even summer-like weather, a great weekend for soccer! The Board and I have great things to share, including an idea for Mother’s Day, you won’t want to miss out on. Read on to learn more!

Fan Gear Store-special Mother’s Day t-shirts available to order!!

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 11 th -celebrate them in style by ordering a special T-shirt! To order in time for just in time gifting, click here to see the design and order from Play it Again by Tuesday, May 6th !!!

Seatbelt Saturday/Sunday- Give the game back to the players (May 10 and 11)

Geared towards 2/3 grade town and travel age players, the idea is for the players to coach themselves and for coaches and parents to sit back and watch the game. Refs will still manage the game to follow the rules and keep play safe. Dedham participates as a town as part of BAYS, so we strongly encourage coaches to support this initiative, however, it is entirely optional. Please see the BAYS notice here and spread the word and lead by example!

Riverdale Field Reminders

Since Rustcraft Field is still closed until further notice, we will continue to use Riverdale as the main field for Town and Preschool Kickers

Help us out by cleaning up after your games so the next team can have a clean sideline

  • If you are the last games of the mornings, fold up the benches, they can be left on the sidelines- thank you for helping make our clean up quicker!
  • We thank you for respecting the surrounding residential neighborhood and promptly moving in and out of the parking lots to keep players and spectators safe
  • Another way we can help everyone stay safe at Riverdale is to keep dogs off the designated fields and elsewhere, always leashed
  • Dogs are not allowed on other fields during play around town, such as Rustcraft, Condon or Capen-Riverdale should be no different.

Thank you again for helping us allow everyone to have fun and safe Soccer Saturdays!!!

Cleat Swap

Cleat swap is back and will be at Riverdale starting this coming weekend, May 10th !! Take a pair, leave a pair, grab gloves, leave some too-small shin guards, you get the idea

In Case You Missed It (ICYMI)!

Though this weekend was Referee Appreciation Weekend, every weekend we are out there on the fields should include special thanks for our hard-working Refs. They keep our players safe and honor the rules of the game by keeping play fair and competitive. Whenever you can, thank a Ref!

Revs Dedham Soccer Night

Can you believe it, next weekend everyone!! Dedham Soccer Night at the Revs will take place on May 17th. All youth soccer players will receive a free ticket to attend this fun event! Stay tuned for the link to select your seats!

Spring weather can be wild here!

Practices: Try to practice as much as possible, as safely as possible. Players should be dressed appropriately (layers!) and keep hydrated, especially now as temperatures start to climb
Games:

  • If there is inclement weather that makes game play or field conditions unsafe, the Board will make this call on Saturday morning
  • Guidelines: 7am for morning games and Preschool Kickers, 10a for afternoon games, 3p for evening games during the week. Please be on the lookout for communications from your Coaches and Directors if it looks like bad weather could be coming for Saturday

Mid-season Reminders

Games (town and travel) should be played on Memorial Day weekend! Reach out to opposing teams and work with your respective Directors to help with rescheduling, if needed
